On July 1st, 2024, at around 12 p.m., a fire broke out at a temporary storage site for building materials in Huwei Township, Yunlin. Strong winds and flammable materials fueled the fire, causing a significant area to burn and emit thick black smoke visible for miles. Over 50 firefighters were dispatched to the scene, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. The fire was extinguished by around 2 p.m., with authorities investigating the cause and potential penalties for any mismanagement contributing to the incident. Residents in surrounding areas were advised to close doors and windows to prevent inhaling harmful gases due to the smoke.
