Mastercard has reached an agreement in principle to settle a class action lawsuit in the UK concerning card fees on behalf of approximately 46 million consumers. This lawsuit, which became the first mass consumer action approved in the UK in 2021, could see a settlement of around 200 million pounds, significantly lower than the 10 billion pounds claimed. Mastercard and the representative claimant, Walter Merricks, have expressed satisfaction with the agreement, aiming to provide meaningful compensation to affected consumers.
