Former DPP Taoyuan City Councilor Wang Hao-yu expressed his disbelief in Mayor Cheng Wen-tsang receiving illegal contributions, considering his continuous influx of legitimate political donations. Cheng Wen-tsang, former Taoyuan mayor and current chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation, was detained on suspicion of corruption and granted bail of 5 million NT dollars with travel restrictions imposed. Wang questioned the need for Cheng to resort to illegal contributions given his already overwhelming volume of legal donations, emphasizing the DPP's stance against corruption and unwavering commitment to upholding the law.
