On July 6, 2024, current Taipei Economic and Cultural Office Chairman Cheng Wen-tsang, who was suspected of corruption during his tenure as the mayor of Taoyuan, was detained by Taoyuan District Prosecutors' Office and has been released on bail of 5 million NTD. Cheng responded for the first time, stating through his lawyer that he had not engaged in any illegal activities and would cooperate with the judicial investigation, emphasizing his value of being 'public over private, not greedy.' He expressed his commitment to defending his innocence throughout the judicial process.
