Mayor of Taipei, Eric Chu, attended the 100th-anniversary celebration of the founding of the Whampoa Military Academy on June 16, 2024. During the event, General Peng Jinming, Chairman of the Republic of China's Central Military Academy Alumni Association, presented Mayor Chu with a commemorative medal, and former Minister of National Defense Wu Shiwenn presented him with a 'Taiwan Black Bear' mascot. Mayor Chu expressed gratitude to the academy's veterans for their dedication to the nation and their continued involvement in public affairs and charitable activities. He praised the academy's century-long legacy of fostering military talent and upholding the values of sacrifice, unity, and responsibility in defending the Republic of China and promoting democracy and freedom.
