McDonald's AI Ordering System Fails with 'Dark Dishes' and $10,000 Chicken Nuggets, Gets Fired

Reported 8 months ago

McDonald's global fast food giant implemented an AI ordering system developed by IBM in over a hundred stores in the US in 2019, which has been producing errors such as adding bacon to ice cream and creating orders for chicken nuggets costing up to $313.6 or around NT$10,000, leading to widespread online mockery. Due to these incidents, McDonald's announced the full termination of AI ordering by the end of July, while expressing belief in the technology's future potential and stating intentions to evaluate long-term and scalable solutions for voice ordering services by the end of the year.
