McDonald's top U.S. executive Joe Erlinger denounced viral reports of exorbitant Big Mac prices, stating that such instances are exceptions, not the rule, and do not represent the company's overall pricing structure. McDonald's profits have grown by almost a third since 2019. The company has emphasized itself as a value brand and will introduce a $5 combo meal for a limited time. Erlinger clarified that the average price of a Big Mac in the U.S. is $5.29, a 21% increase since 2019, refuting claims of larger price hikes as inaccurately sourced.
