McKinsey & Co. is reportedly close to agreeing to a settlement of at least $500 million with U.S. prosecutors related to its prior consulting work for opioid manufacturers that contributed to the opioid crisis. This deal will resolve ongoing criminal and civil inquiries by the Justice Department, following previous settlements totaling hundreds of millions paid to various states. The firm has claimed its assistance was legal but acknowledged that its standards were not met in those cases. Despite these payments, McKinsey continues to face legal scrutiny over its past actions linked to the opioid epidemic.
