Mechanic Fired After Reporting Poor Boeing Plane Repairs

Reported about 1 year ago

A mechanic working for a Boeing subcontractor was terminated after raising concerns about substandard repair work on Boeing 787 Dreamliners, including issues with drilling holes and applying sealant to maintain aircraft pressurization. Despite the mechanic's claims, Boeing stated that safety concerns were not raised. The mechanic, Richard Cuevas, reported the issues to both Spirit AeroSystems and Boeing before being fired in March. Boeing confirmed that they investigated the claims and found no safety risks, while Spirit AeroSystems is investigating the matter and encouraging all concerned employees to come forward.
