A new study by researchers from Brigham and Women’s Hospital suggests that women who follow a Mediterranean diet may live longer. Analyzing data from over 25,000 U.S. women for up to 25 years, the study found that those with a higher intake of Mediterranean diet had a 23% reduced risk of all-cause mortality. The diet includes fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, fish, olive oil, and lower red meat consumption, with factors like inflammation and insulin resistance contributing to the lower mortality risk. Further research is needed to explore additional pathways for the diet's benefits.
