During the first TV debate of the 2024 US presidential election between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, attention is also drawn to speculation about Melania Trump's absence from important campaign events. Reports suggest that if Donald Trump were to win the election and return to the White House, Melania has reached an agreement with him not to serve as a full-time First Lady, partly due to concerns for their 18-year-old son Barron. Melania's strong desire to protect her son's privacy and normalcy may lead her to focus on supporting Barron in his transition to college life, should Trump be re-elected.
