On July 1, a 49-year-old man surnamed Du drove a white Mercedes-Benz with writings on the exterior referencing national security and cognitive warfare, first honking aggressively at AIT in Neihu District and then crashing into the flowerbed in front of the Presidential Office in Taipei. He was arrested, and later bailed with NT$200,000 by Northern Prosecutors, with travel restrictions and responsibility assigned to family members. Du claimed he accidentally accelerated due to illusion when crashing into the flowerbed but refused to explain the writings on the car. While being transferred for investigation, he suddenly yelled 'my wife is a spy', leading to charges of endangering public safety and obstructing official duties.
