According to a report from Reuters, Meta estimates that 10% of its annual revenue, approximately $16 billion, originates from fraudulent advertisements on its platforms. The company has been criticized for not effectively protecting users from ads promoting illegal activities and scams over the past three years. Despite having a detection system, Meta only acts on ads it is 95% sure are fraudulent, ultimately allowing some scammers to contribute to its revenue. A Meta spokesperson defended the company's actions, stating that user reports of scam ads have decreased significantly.
