New York Mets pitcher Jorge Lopez spoke out against the media for misrepresenting his postgame comments in which he was ejected and allegedly called the Mets the worst team in MLB. Lopez, a native Spanish speaker, clarified that he was criticizing himself, not the team. The confusion arose due to a language barrier, as Lopez felt his words about being the 'worst teammate in the entire league' were misinterpreted. Despite his clarification and apology on Instagram, the Mets designated Lopez for assignment due to his behavior, with manager Carlos Mendoza explaining that such actions were not tolerable. Lopez, a former All-Star with the Orioles and Twins, struggled in his first season with the Mets before being let go.
