Mexico's 2026 budget includes 263.5 billion pesos ($14.1 billion) to support the struggling state oil company Pemex, primarily to cover its debt expenses. Despite this aid and previous financial assistance totalling around $80 billion since 2018, Pemex continues to face significant operational challenges and a debt exceeding $100 billion. The company's output is estimated to be 1.8 million barrels per day next year, yet analysts doubt the effectiveness of the budgetary support in reversing the ongoing decline in production.
