Mexico announced a significant increase in tariffs on automobiles from China and other Asian countries to 50% as part of a comprehensive overhaul aimed at protecting jobs and addressing U.S. concerns. The changes, which will also affect other goods across various sectors, are expected to impact $52 billion in imports and are designed to safeguard over 325,000 jobs in the industrial and manufacturing sectors. The measures come amidst U.S. pressure for Mexico to limit its economic ties with China.
