Mexico Introduces New Tariffs Targeting Asian E-Tailers Like Shein and Temu

Reported 4 days ago

Mexico's tax authority SAT has announced new tariffs that will particularly affect online retailers such as Shein and Temu, which source their goods from Asia. Starting January 1, goods entering Mexico from countries without trade treaties will face a duty of 19%, while those from Canada and the U.S. will incur a 17% duty for certain values. This move is part of a broader strategy to combat tax evasion and ensure fairness for local businesses, potentially disrupting the operations of major e-commerce players.
