Microsoft will officially shut down Skype on May 5, marking the end of the two-decade-old internet calling service. The decision comes as the company shifts its focus to Teams, aiming to streamline its communication tools. While Skype once disrupted the calling industry, it struggled against competitors like Zoom and Slack in recent years. Users will be able to transition to Teams for free using their existing Skype credentials as Microsoft integrates this service with its Office apps.
