Military Officer's Wife's Mansion Up for Auction Amid Embezzlement Case

Former colonel Liu Guanjun, the ex-head of the National Security Bureau, is accused of embezzling over 190 million NT dollars and fleeing to China in 2000. His wife's luxurious 5-story mansion in the Wenshan District is being auctioned by the Taipei branch of the Executive Enforcement Agency on July 2nd for the third time, with a starting price of 37.3 million NT dollars. The property was confiscated by the authorities following a court ruling to confiscate Liu and his wife Meng Wenhua's assets. Additionally, former DaimlerChrysler Group CEO Chen Youhao's 79.1-hectare land in New Taipei City is also being auctioned due to tax debts, with a total starting price of 390.22 million NT dollars.
