During the Huangpu Army Officer Academy's centennial celebration, Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng announced a shift from traditional marching to unified marching for future celebrations, making this year's event the potential last formal step parade. Special footage of the students' formal steps was previewed by media ahead of the event, where President and Commande-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lai Ching-te, is expected to officiate. The parade will also feature military students from diplomatic partner nations, showcasing deep-rooted military exchanges. The new formal step involves a rifle-carrying gesture, deviating from the previous single-handed gun-carrying pose due to the T91 rifle's shorter size, emphasizing body mechanics. The event highlighted the unity of the three Armed Forces and the passing down of military traditions, tracing back to the academy's founding principles amid the celebration of its centennial milestone.
