Since taking office, Minister of National Defense Gu Li-Xiong has made significant reforms, including canceling traditional bayonet techniques and vacation reporting requirements for military personnel. When questioned by Kuomintang lawmaker Ma Wen-June during a hearing, Gu stated he does not support collective punishment for major incidents occurring during military leaves. He emphasized the importance of self-discipline among personnel and clarified that vacation policies focus on self-management with critical incidents requiring reporting for assistance. Gu also addressed misunderstandings about revised reporting methods, promising strict enforcement in cases of noncompliance.
