Ministry of the Interior: Whether the Taipei Dome can hold events should be determined by the Taipei City Government based on its supervisory responsibilities

Reported 9 months ago

The issue of whether the Taipei Dome can hold concerts has once again become a point of contention between the Taipei City Government and the Ministry of the Interior, as the Taipei City Council passed a proposal recommending concerts at the Dome. Taipei City Government will now quickly issue a document to the Ministry of the Interior based on the council resolution to confirm if the Dome still falls under the exemption of not adhering to certain building regulations. The Ministry of the Interior reiterated its stance that Taipei City Government should decide independently based on their responsibilities, urging a swift resolution. Jay Chou expressed eagerness for a response regarding concert venues, while Mayor Chiang Wan-an hopes to resolve restrictions soon and looks forward to hosting large-scale events, including concerts, at the Dome. The Ministry emphasized that it is the local government's responsibility to host large events in public venues and that the Taipei Dome's stance on concerts remains based on a 2017 directive, urging Taipei City Government to make decisions according to their responsibilities.
