Reported 6 months ago

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has agreed to sign a bill setting statewide compensation rates for Uber and Lyft drivers, preventing the companies from leaving the Twin Cities area. In California, the state Supreme Court may uphold Proposition 22, which would exempt gig workers from AB5 regulations. The trucking industry is appealing a federal judge's decision to apply AB5 to trucking. In Minnesota, the new law will give drivers a 20% raise and a minimum compensation of $1.28 per mile and 31 cents per minute. In California, the court is debating whether voters can eliminate workers' comp laws through initiatives like Prop 22.
