A Mitsubishi Heavy Industries executive stated that it is not the right time to decide on re-entering the commercial airplane market following the failure of the SpaceJet project. The company plans to utilize resources from the SpaceJet program for other aerospace and environmental ventures. While Japan's industry ministry is committed to a future passenger aircraft project, Mitsubishi Heavy is focusing on groundwork for future aviation strategy discussions with the government, rather than immediately resuming aircraft assembly.
