On June 12, 2024, the Central Weather Bureau issued a heavy rain alert for three southern counties due to the influence of southwest winds, warning of the possibility of localized heavy rain and thunderstorms, as well as strong gusts. Additionally, a heatwave alert has been issued for four counties as the hot weather continues, reminding people to take precautions against sun exposure, stay hydrated, and prevent heat-related injuries. The regions affected by the heavy rain alert are Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County, while Taipei City, New Taipei City, Hualien County, and Taitung County are under the heatwave alert. Southwest winds will bring intermittent showers and thunderstorms to southern Taiwan from the 12th to the 15th, with the potential for heavy rain in the south and mountainous areas; on the 16th, brief showers are expected in central and southern Taiwan. Other regions will see partly cloudy to sunny weather, with localized thunderstorms forecasted in the afternoons throughout the period.
