MLB legend Willie Mays passed away at the age of 93. Mays played 22 seasons in MLB, winning 12 consecutive Gold Glove Awards, hitting 4 home runs in a single game, and ranking 6th in career home runs. Known as one of the greatest players in history, his former teams the Giants and the Mets announced his peaceful passing at 93. Mays, who became the 10th African American player in MLB history at the age of 20, retired in 1973 and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979. His most iconic play was 'The Catch' during the 1954 World Series, where he made a remarkable defensive play to secure victory for the Giants over the Indians. Mays, who wore number 24 for most of his career except for 1951 when he wore number 14, has a statue in San Francisco to honor his contributions, and May 24 is designated as Willie Mays Day each year.
