New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz was suspended for 10 games by Major League Baseball for having a sticky foreign substance on his hand during a game against the Chicago Cubs. Diaz, who claimed to use pine tar, sweat, and rosin to improve his grip on the ball, was found with a non-pine-tar substance on his hand according to the umpire's report. This suspension marks the third time a Mets pitcher has been ejected for foreign substances, following Max Scherzer and Drew Smith. Diaz can choose to appeal the decision before the suspension officially starts on the 26th.
