Mohammad Rasoulof arrived in Cannes for his film 'Seed of the Sacred Fig,' but his dangerous journey out of Iran is not yet complete.

Reported 5 months ago

After a perilous 28-day journey fleeing Iran, filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof has made it to Cannes, safe for now and eagerly awaiting the premiere of his fourth Cannes feature, "The Seed of the Sacred Fig." His film was completed despite challenges, including his collaborators being banned from leaving Iran and facing harassment from authorities. Rasoulof's work sheds light on the oppression in Iran, and he remains concerned about the safety of his cast and crew back home. The film, addressing themes of opposition and fascism in Iran, is set to premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
