Although more women made the list of the highest paid CEOs in 2023, their numbers still remain significantly lower compared to men. The survey by the Associated Press included 25 women out of 341 CEOs in the S&P 500, the highest number since the survey began. However, the overall trend remains discouraging according to sociology professor Christy Glass, who noted fluctuations in female CEO numbers over the years. Lisa Su of AMD topped the list, earning $30.3 million in fiscal 2023, showcasing the ongoing gender pay gap within CEO compensation.
