Morgan Stanley has formally requested the Federal Reserve to reduce its capital requirements as the regulator prepares to announce new requirements for major Wall Street banks. The Fed is reviewing the request for a lower stress capital buffer and is expected to make a decision by September 30. The bank anticipates its Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) requirement may decrease from 13.5% to 12.6%, following a successful stress test where 22 banks, including Morgan Stanley, passed.
