Most Japanese Companies Against Imposing U.S.-Style Tariffs on China: Reuters Poll

Reported about 1 year ago

A Reuters survey shows that most Japanese companies do not see the need for Japan to adopt U.S.-style tariffs on Chinese imports, citing that China's excessive production capacity does not significantly impact them. Over 60% of respondents believe Japan should not implement similar measures, with only 7% believing that Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's pledge for wage increases above inflation is achievable. Additionally, companies are skeptical about the effectiveness of government tax cuts to stimulate consumer spending amidst rising inflation.
