On the evening of July 3rd, the bodies of two girls, aged 9 and 10, were found drowned in Bitan Pond in New Taipei City, with their 34-year-old mother, surnamed Chien, admitting to jumping into the water with her daughters. Unfortunately, the girls died, while she survived and reported the incident the next day. Police suspect that the mother may have attempted suicide. Chien, who is originally from China, had an argument with her husband and his family on July 2nd before making the tragic decision to take her daughters to Bitan Pond. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the girls' deaths and to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
