A mother of a junior high school student in southern Taiwan was fined 30,000 New Taiwan Dollars for writing insults directed at her son's teacher in the contact book, including phrases like 'What's wrong with you, are you mentally ill?' and 'What's up with 78?' The court determined that the mother's comments had damaged the teacher's reputation and upheld the fine, which could still be appealed. The mother argued that her comments were meant as expressing her thoughts and not as insults, but the judge did not find her explanation credible.
