In Nantou, Taiwan, a woman surnamed Liu had an altercation with her former daughter-in-law and ended up hitting her with a walking stick, causing a laceration on the forehead and a suspected nasal bone fracture. Despite denying the assault and claiming self-defense, Liu was sentenced to 3 months in prison for causing harm. The incident stemmed from a heated argument between the two women where witnesses confirmed Liu as the aggressor. The court ruling also included a fine of NT$90,000 if Liu chose not to serve the sentence.
