Mother pleads guilty to torturing children with blowtorch

An Ariton woman, Ashleigh Ableman, pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated child abuse and chemical endangerment of a child. She was sentenced to five years in prison followed by five years of supervised probation for beating and burning her children with a blowtorch. The abuses included hitting her children with a leather belt, beating them in different locations, and exposing her 4-year-old to methamphetamine and marijuana. Ableman's boyfriend, Howard Anderson, also faces charges with a tentative trial date set for September 9.
