A mother took her two daughters to the BiTan Reservoir in Xindian, New Taipei City, on July 4, 2024, intending to commit suicide, and while she made it out of the water, her two daughters tragically drowned. Investigation revealed that the mother, surnamed Jian, led her daughters into the water and let go of them, watching as they were swept away. Jian then attempted suicide herself but ultimately chose to seek help, leading to the discovery of her daughters' bodies. Jian has been arrested for murder, with the case still under investigation to ascertain further details.
