An exclusive report on July 3, 2024 at 10:50 PM: Officer Lin Yu-li from the Wafang Precinct of the Wenshan First Police Precinct received a report while on patrol duty that a motorcycle had mistakenly entered the Xinyi Expressway. He promptly drove from the Wafang Interchange onto the Xinyi Expressway and found the motorcyclist waving for help at the shoulder where Xinyi Expressway and National Freeway No.3A intersected. The 20-year-old rider, surnamed Chen, had mistakenly set his phone navigation to car mode while riding from Taipei's Xinyi District to New Taipei City's Xindian District for business. Unable to move forward or backward upon realizing the mistake, Chen stopped and sought police assistance to avoid danger and accidents. The police helped him, issued a ticket for the violation, and escorted him off the expressway to safety. The Wenshan First Police Precinct advises motorcycle riders who mistakenly enter expressways or freeways to stop immediately, wait at a safe spot, call 110 to report, and avoid reversing to prevent endangering themselves or others, which can result in fines.
