In a report released on June 13, 2024, at 2:38 am, Taipei City's traffic lights need to consider traffic relief and pedestrian safety, causing longer red light durations on major roads due to signal synchronization between intersections. In response to the hot summer weather, Taipei City's Traffic Engineering Department reviewed and shortened the red light duration at 740 intersections during the summer of 113 (July 1st to the end of August) to reduce sun exposure time for motorcycle riders and pedestrians by an average of 21 seconds. The department will monitor traffic flow and adjust timings based on public feedback.
