According to estimates, Mount Everest is covered in over 50 tons of trash and more than 200 bodies, with the melting snow revealing the accumulation. Due to global warming, the bodies and trash are becoming increasingly visible on the world's highest peak. In efforts to address the issue, Nepal's military has been conducting annual clean-up campaigns since 2019, removing tons of garbage and human remains from Everest as well as neighboring peaks.
