A team consisting of soldiers and Sherpas removed 11 tons of garbage, four dead bodies, and a skeleton from Mount Everest's peak during the climbing season. The garbage, including old tents, food packaging, and ropes, is frozen at the 8,000-meter altitude of the South Col camp. Despite recent efforts to reduce trash left by climbers, there is still around 40-50 tons of garbage to clean up. Weather conditions and low oxygen levels at high altitudes pose challenges for the cleanup, with some bodies taking hours to remove. The collected garbage was segregated for recycling in Kathmandu.
