On June 23, 2024, a series of coordinated attacks took place in Dagestan, Russia, targeting 2 Orthodox churches, 1 Jewish synagogue, and a police station in 2 cities simultaneously. At least 17 people, including 15 police officers, have been reported dead with 25 injured. 6 militants have been killed by law enforcement. The area has been put on high alert and certain roads have been closed off. Dagestan, located in the North Caucasus region, has a majority Muslim population with a minority of Orthodox Christians and Jews. The attacks have resulted in more than 15 police officers and at least 2 civilians dead, with the police chief confirming that over 15 officers were killed in the attacks.
