On June 29, a series of female suicide bombers detonated explosives in the town of Gwoza in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria, resulting in numerous casualties. The victims are receiving treatment at state hospitals and universities. The attacks occurred at a wedding, a hospital, and a graveyard, leading to a total of 18 deaths and 48 injuries. The Nigerian military has imposed a curfew in the area, but no group has claimed responsibility yet. The attacks are believed to be linked to the terrorist organization Boko Haram, as Gwoza was previously occupied by them in 2014 and has since been a frequent target of violence. The conflict has spread to neighboring countries, prompting the formation of a regional military alliance to combat militants.
