The rapid depreciation of Myanmar's currency, the kyat, has led to skyrocketing prices for essential goods such as food and medicine, severely impacting households already struggling amidst civil war and economic turmoil. Recently, the kyat's value fell to a low of 7,500 to the dollar in the black market, up from 5,000 earlier in the month, fueling inflation and pushing the costs of groceries and medicines upward. Despite a slight recovery, prices have remained high, exacerbating poverty and unrest in the country.
