Nantou Shuang Shi Bridge, the Longest Suspension Bridge in Taiwan, Lights Up at Night to Become a Dazzling New Landmark

Reported 8 months ago

Located in Caotun, Nantou, the Shuang Shi Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in Taiwan. It is illuminated from 6 to 10 p.m. every night, serving as a brilliant new landmark visible from National Highway No. 6 or Provincial Highway No. 14. After over half a century since its construction, the bridge has undergone a renovation to enhance safety, install lighting decorations, and attract visitors. The local government plans to secure funds for repainting the bridge columns and improving the surrounding environment for further development. The 362-meter-long and 1.8-meter-wide bridge was built by the residents in 1963 and rebuilt in 1965, becoming a significant transportation and tourist spot in the past. However, with the advancement of road transportation, its usage declined. The recent beautification efforts aim to revive the bridge's former charm and historical importance.
