Following the passage of the National Congress Reform Bill, both the blue and green camps have started campaigning vigorously. Kuomintang Taipei City Councilor Yu Shu-hui pointed out that the Democratic Progressive Party opposes empowering the congress because they want to consolidate power. She believes that the ruling party's opposition to the opposition party is simply because they do not wish to be supervised. The reform mainly impacts the relationship between the executive and legislative branches, leading to the current confrontation. Yu criticized the DPP for neglecting pressing national issues to focus solely on breaking free from constraints and wielding power as they please.
