Following the reforms initiated by the new Minister of National Defense, Chiu Kuo-chung, to abolish traditional bayonet training and reporting of military leaves, reports surfaced of the renaming of leave reporting groups to 'mutual aid groups' and the implementation of 'video checks.' Minister Chiu promised to internally request for proper measures to be enforced and to address any similar situations strictly. Despite the intention to relieve the burden on grassroots soldiers, feedback revealed reinterpretations of the policies at lower levels, such as changing regular reporting to voluntary reporting and renaming reporting groups as 'mutual aid groups.'
