FTNN news reported on June 12, 2024 that Taoyuan City Councilor Yu Beichen, a former commanding officer of the Army Officer Candidate School (Huangpu Military Academy), publicly expressed that he did not receive an invitation to the Huangpu centennial celebration and hoped to participate, but was criticized by netizens as being 'embarrassing,' leading to speculation on his exclusion. The Army Command stated that the event was open to the public, welcoming Yu and others to visit the camp. Finally, the Ministry of National Defense clarified that the invitation list for the centennial celebration was limited to specific officials, including presidents, government officials, retired generals, and local dignitaries, with only 2500 seats available for VIPs, which was the reason for Yu's exclusion.
