On June 28, 2024, the National Taiwan Life Wuri Building in Taichung achieved the top building energy efficiency grade of '1+', becoming a 'Nearly Zero-Carbon Building,' with a 50% energy savings compared to other commercial buildings. The building imports all its remaining electricity from green sources, achieving energy carbon neutrality and zero emissions, making it the first building in Taiwan to be certified as a 'Net Zero Building.' The building efficiency evaluation system TBERS 1 (Taiwan Building Energy-Efficiency Rating System) is used to assess energy efficiency of commercial buildings, with grades ranging from 1 to 7 based on energy efficiency in various aspects like building envelope, HVAC systems, and lighting systems. The Wuri Building, a self-use commercial building of National Life, incorporates green design features such as solar panels, energy-efficient windows, permeable outdoor parking tiles, and water recycling systems, earning it certifications like LEED Gold and Taiwan's highest Diamond Green Building Certification. National Life has been emphasizing sustainability and energy efficiency in their developments since 2016, aiming for international certifications like LEED and TBERS. They are actively participating in ESG assessments and have received top ratings in areas like GRESB. National Life regards creating low-carbon, zero-carbon smart buildings as a key trend in sustainable living and has obtained 17 green building certifications and signed power purchase agreements for renewable energy to support their green power initiatives.
