During a recent discussion in the Legislative Yuan on amending the 'Fiscal Revenue and Expenditure Division Law,' discrepancies among various versions were highlighted, with Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai stating that the Kuomintang (KMT) version was unfair to the other four cities outside of New Taipei and Taipei. The KMT-aligned National Policy Foundation pointed out that the KMT's proposed fiscal planning law version, without political affiliations, showed the highest increase for New Taipei and the lowest for Taipei, effectively balancing urban-rural gaps. The foundation urged the Ministry of Finance to address the current unfair distribution, emphasizing the need for fair and effective allocation of resources to meet the basic needs of the people and facilitate overall governance and national development.
