Central Weather Bureau issued a series of alerts for heavy rain, torrential rain, and thunderstorms on June 9th due to vigorous convective cloud development, with Nantou County expecting heavy thunderstorms until 4 p.m. and the possibility of localized heavy or torrential rain, urging residents in low-lying areas to guard against flooding. 14 counties and cities nationwide are advised to watch out for heavy rain. Specific areas at risk include mountainous regions of Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Taichung City, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County, Hengchun Peninsula, and Hualien County, where short-duration heavy rain is expected to persist into the night with potential for localized heavy rain in central Taiwan, southern areas, and western mountainous regions, cautioning against lightning, strong gusts, landslides, falling rocks, and flooding in low-lying areas.
